Ep 6 - Stonies Buds - Chris "E-Tree" Engelsman
Growing up just 40 miles from the birthplace of Snurfing in the Midwest, Chris Engelsman, aka E-Tree in snowboarding circles, found his passion for the sport near an abandoned ski hill. Drawn to the west coast as he matured, he sought a college in a ski town, leading him to Colorado—a common trajectory for many snowboarders from the eastern side of the Rockies.
Despite starting with good intentions at college, Chris soon realized his true calling. His journey unfolded into an 11-year professional riding career marked by innovative tricks, impressive video parts, and the creation of gear tailored for taller riders. Standing a few inches above 6 feet himself, he revolutionized snowboard attire, addressing the challenges faced by taller riders with specially designed cuts.
Post-pro career, Chris became the publisher of Snowboarder Magazine, contributing to notable issues during the heyday of print media. Today, living in Utah, he continues to embrace his lifelong love for snowboarding, regularly hitting the nearby resorts. A dedicated lifer in the snowboarding community, E-Tree's journey is chronicled in The Stonie's Buds Podcast episode, recorded at the Boarding House Podcast Studio in SLC, UT.
