Building guitars in Lugnås - Sweden's last guitar factory (Lugnås gitarrfabrik)
The guitar factory in Lugnås is Sweden's last remaining of it's kind. With Levin, Bjärton and Hagström long gone this factory still build guitars in the same way it has for decades. Started by Hans Persson in 1945 it is now run by his son Lennart who started working there in 1959. In the 1960s and 70s the factory supplied Levin with 70 000 guitar necks and millions of strings. Brands like Ahlander, Steiner and their own Lugnås and Swedtone guitars were built using only solid woods and solid craftsmanship. Swedtone guitars are still made to this day. All in all 50 000 guitars has left the factory, as have 30 000 zithers. The material in this video was shot during the making of the Levin guitars documentary "Levin - a name with music in it".
