Hemolytic anemia is a type of anemia characterized by the premature destruction of red blood cells (hemolysis) either within the bloodstream or in the spleen or liver. This accelerated breakdown of red blood cells can lead to a shortage of these cells in the bloodstream, causing symptoms associated with anemia such as fatigue, weakness, pale skin, shortness of breath, and jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes)
