🔻🏡 HOAs suck
Their dues are an added cost of living that makes home ownership more expensive.
They also limit what you can do with your property (i.e. limiting your paint choices or determining if you can rent your property or not).
And while they are responsible for paying for anything outside of your home (that’s what your dues pay for), if an outside issue affects the inside of your home, it can be a major hassle to get them to pay for those damages. (i.e. a water leak outside causing a flood inside your home.)
It’s one of the many reasons why I stay away from condos and townhomes and rarely purchase single family homes in an HOA unless their regulations are light.
