In this tutorial, we will talk about sunlight and sky in vray for revit software. One of the most common methods is to use vray sun and vray sky tools. We usually use this method for ambient lighting for exterior renderings. We do not use this method for interior renderings because it increases the rendering time and does not produce good rendering. There is another mode for ambient lighting, which is a combination of dome light and HDR images, which we will discuss in another tutorial. You can see the rendering settings for vray sun, which includes the intensity and size of the sun. We start the rendering test, but before that we activate the denoiser and Lightmix options. The denoiser allows us to see a clean result very quickly. Lightmix allows us to control the lights during rendering or after rendering. To increase the rendering test speed, we can decrease the trace depth. We also determine the resolution and now we do the rendering test. vray sun and vray sky also have a smart relationship with each other, that is, if we have a sunset, the sky will react to it and become darker and more orange. As you can see in the rendering test, the light of the sky and the sun are present in the scene. The sun size option affects two things, the first is the sharpness or softness of the shadows and the second is the size of the sun. If we increase the sun size too much, it will cause the shadows to fade so much that they are no longer recognizable. Usually, the shadows of the sun are sharp at noon, and the shadows become very soft at sunset or in foggy weather. The turbidity option is also suitable for a more industrial environment. To change the angle of the sun, we can use the sun settings tool in Revit.
