Lainist returns to Vivarium with their long-awaited, full-length follow up to 'The Light in this Darkness'. 'The Nightmare of Fabrication' explores social alienation through the lens of the character Lain (the title derived from the Serial Experiments Lain doujinshi of the same name). A concept album of staggering scale and searing intensity, 'The Nightmare of Fabrication' conveys digital loneliness in a tumultuous bombardment that does not relent until its closing moment of calm reflection. Drum and bass, trance and hardvapour influences evoke the Y2K aesthetic in all its glistening modernity. It is an album that distills that all-too-relevant feeling, both coldly artificial and blistering with a desire to connect, that comes from living in the nightmarish alienation of the internet age.
