The safe integration of a large number of advanced drone operations to the low-level airspace requires a highly automated and coordinated traffic management system. The unmanned traffic management (UTM/U-space) systems that are currently being developed and implemented across the world aim to support drone operators with digital services and cutting-edge technologies. Within the UTM framework, drone operators use the services from UTM service providers (USSPs) to conduct their operations without getting in conflict with other unmanned operations in the same airspace. Additionally, they can receive the appropriate information and updates that increase their situational awareness.
In this session, you will see in detail how a drone operator-USSP integration solution looks like and how it is possible to enable this integration with QGroundControl (QGCS). A demonstration of the solution will showcase the capabilities of a USSP that provides services in compliance with the EU U-space regulation. The seamless integration with QGCS will showcase the minimal effort required by drone operators in order to access UTM/U-space services. As this solution development is carried forward in the QGCS UTM adapter working group, you will get an outlook on the next steps planned and how you can participate.
