https://vk.com/maximseliverstoff Another behind-the-scenes look at the making of a YouTube video. The video turned out quite long, so I included some thoughts about life and hid secret words here and there. You can play a game of "find the word," and also try to solve a riddle... I'm not including the answer to the riddle about my mistake in the navigation, just to add a little intrigue ;-)

If you're in a hurry and don't have the energy to watch everything, here's the video navigation:

00:00 Introduction, discussion with the client
00:54 Rotation of the planet
01:26 Preparation in Photoshop
01:53 I made a mistake! What was it?
01:59 Drawing the vector for the characters
04:05 Fill
20:39 Rigging and animation
27:40 Hearts
30:15 Compositing
31:25 Final

In this video, I show how a real project is created, albeit small, but real. The main work is done in MoHo Pro 12, although there is a little Photoshop and AE.

If you're interested in backstage, you can watch the other videos in this playlist. They can help you learn how to make cartoons.

The final video is available on my studio's channel, so you can watch it there too.

This video is about the intro for the YouTube channel "Platonchiki." I tried to find that channel to provide a link, but it didn't work. Maybe it's too well hidden in the impenetrable YouTube jungle, or maybe the creators changed their minds and never got around to it. Ultimately, I don't know the fate of the screensaver. I couldn't get in touch via WhatsApp; more than a year has passed, and contact has simply been lost. :-(

It starts as usual: chatting on WhatsApp, exchanging files and thoughts.

I receive an image in Adobe Illustrator from the client, we approve the script, receive an advance payment, and then we move on to work.

So, we have a planet with children standing on it. The scenario is as follows: the planet appears from a point and rotates. The children jump out from behind the planet and stand in a circle, hearts appearing in their hands. And of course, the text needs to appear somehow; how could it be otherwise?

Vector rendering wasn't suitable for Moho. Illustrator creates an overly complex outline that's difficult to work with. So I decide to manually trace the image in Moho.

For this, I first prepare the image in Photoshop, cut out the characters, and rotate them. I arrange them on a sheet of paper for ease of work. Drawing tilted characters would be a bit more difficult, and attaching skeletons at an angle would also be odd.

So— Photoshop.

And here I made a strange mistake. If you're observant, look closely at the image. What's the mistake?

So, the image is ready, I use it as a background in the moho and begin drawing the characters. I'm drawing with a vector, no fill or outline; I'll create the shapes at the very end, once the vector is ready. This will allow me to optimize the character models, filling them as a structure, not as an image.

This is a rather monotonous and repetitive work that took several hours. Here, it flies by in minutes, but even those minutes can seem monotonous and boring. If you're not particularly interested, you can skip it. I've included navigation in the video description, and you can jump to sections using time codes, watching only the parts that are most relevant and interesting to you at the moment.
