In this video Phil Cook, who delivers the exclusive Simply Rhino Level 2 training course (https://simplyrhino.co.uk/training/co...) describes a SubD modelling workflow used to create a soft but structured laminated plastic pouch commonly used for packaging contents such as protein, dishwasher tablets, pet food, etc.
Starting with some 2D guide curves, Phil shows how to create the pack in a number of simple steps whilst concentrating on maintaining a simple, predominantly four sided, SubD topology. Initially Phil creates a dimensionally correct ‘rigid’ version of the pack that can be used for production and generating artwork, and then goes on to produce a more irregular version for visualisation purposes. For the rendering element of this tutorial, Phil looks at using the Unwrap function and the UV Editor (improved in Rhino v8) to apply the artwork based material accurately to the faces of the SubD model. The video concludes with a quick tip to help with masking/selection when post processing a Render from Rhino.
