In this Sixty Second tutorial we look at the following method to create the very popular cinematic black bars effect in Premiere Pro...
1.Go to File - New - Adjustment Layer
2. Make sure the adjustment layer is the same size as your video resolution and then click ok
3. Add this adjustment layer above your footage on the timeline and extend to make sure it covers the full duration of your video.
4. In the effects panel, go video effects - Crop and drag and drop this onto the adjustment layer
5. Drag the video playhead to where you want the animation to start and click the stopwatch next to the top and bottom crop options to set keyframes at zero
6. Now drag your playhead to where you want the animation to finish and input the same value in the top and bottom crop options, this will set end keyframes for the animation, here we’ve used a value of 12.
7. You can increase or decrease the time between the keyframes to speed up or slow down the animation as required.
