In this follow-up review, I share my experience using the Astropad Rock Paper Pencil v3 textured screen protector and Apple Pencil tip after 1.5 months of daily drawing and note-taking on my iPad.
Most paper-like screen protectors (including earlier Rock Paper Pencil versions and competitors) started scratching up within a month. Version 3 has held up much better. While there are some surface scratches, they don’t affect the drawing feel — and they can be cleaned with a microfiber cloth and a little rubbing alcohol.
I also put its durability to the test by accident: a metal ruler dropped on my iPad and gouged the protector. Thankfully, the iPad glass was untouched — proving that this product really does work as a screen protector.
If you’re looking for the best iPad screen protector for drawing, sketching, or handwriting with a true paper-like texture that lasts, I highly recommend the Astropad Rock Paper Pencil v3.
