DATSUN 620 gets CUSTOM suspension
Ever thought about having custom built adjustable A arms for your Ride?
So did we, except there are few to be found, so we took it upon ourself!
First we cut out all the old mounting brackets without damaging our main frame. This was followed with some time with the grinder!
We then went to work on the design. We came up with a few different options and decided on going with a full cantilever suspension.
We wanted a wider track width for the drift track, with the ability to be fully adjustable. So that’s what we did. Using the old A arms as an example, we created a new design that would allow them to be adjusted a full 4-5 inches wider than stock! With 3 inches wider being our settling point.
Using some 1/4 steel we molded single piece reinforcement plates and welded them to the main frame. These reinforcement plates would also serve as mounting points as well for the A- arms.
Tabs were then created that would match up with the A- ARMs mounts. measurements were taken and the tabs were welded in place to allow proper geometry
A 3/8 inch steel plate was cut and shaved to serve as amounting point for the balljoint and for the A arm mounts. And BAM we had our adjustable A- Arms
In testing they gave full articulation. Now we just have to make our Lower control arms to match these bad boys!
