Synthesis of BENZAMIDE
This video will demonstrate the synthesis of an interesting amide, benzoamide. It will be prepared from ammonium carbonate and benzoyl chloride. These substances should be handled in a fume hood, as benzoyl chloride is a lachrymator, and ammonium carbonate begins to evaporate in air, forming ammonia.
