Giulia Cuccato is an academic and civil servant with a background in environmental science and genetics. She holds a PhD in Risk Assessment of Genetically Modified Crops from Reading University. Giulia specialized in engineering biology through two postdoctoral positions at the Telethon Institute for Genetics and Medicine in Naples and the Institute for Molecular Oncology in Milan. She has also served as an editor at Nature and worked for two years at Defra. Currently, Giulia is with the Government Office for Science, where she focuses on improving government science systems and promoting effective engagement between the government and the academic community.
