Hello everyone! How are you? I hope you are all well and with good health 😃.
My name is Velpa, and I am dedicated to completing retro videogames (from the first to the fourth generation) in No Damage conditions and without savestates, and this time I bring you Sonic 3 & Knuckles for the Sega Genesis/Megadrive, a game that we will break to its very essence in order to complete it without receiving a single hit. Are you ready?
🎮🎮🎮 WHAT DOES "WITHOUT SAVESTATES" MEAN? 🎮🎮🎮
It means that in case I receive a hit anywhere in the game, I do not return to the beginning of the level or the section in which I am, but to the beginning of the game. This condition greatly increases the difficulty of the game, but also adds a touch of magic and adrenaline to it that makes it worth a try.
🎮🎮🎮 HOW CAN I BELIEVE YOUR RUNS ARE REAL? 🎮🎮🎮
At the end of the video, I show the number of "Rerecordings", which is a number that only increases if savestates have been used. That the value is 0 implies that savestates have been loaded 0 times during the game (that is, not once).
🎮🎮🎮 MY PERSONAL RULES ON THIS RUN 🎮🎮🎮
-No shields (no fire shield, no thunder shield, etc.)
-No insta-shield
-No glitches (so no level skips or anything similar)
-Perfect in ALL bonus stages (this really helped in me losing in bonus stages, so this rule really is important)
-No hit even in bonus stages (I actually lost MANY times in bonus stages, so this rule really is important too)
-100% (All Emeralds, including Super Emeralds, i.e True Ending)
🎮🎮🎮 MY STYLE WHEN DOING NO DAMAGE RUNS 🎮🎮🎮
Personally, I love a No Damage Run that is full of style and aggressiveness. With style, I mean things like joking with enemies/bosses (maybe something like trying different combos that might do less damage and make the fight longer, and maybe involves a higher risk, but is funny and entertaining to watch), and with aggressiveness, I mean things like getting myself into positions where it's very easy for me to take damage (maybe something like fighting in the middle of the room instead of cornering myself and making use of the fact that enemies can't attack past a certain point, what is more technically known as the player being out of bounds for the enemy range of attack). I only play safe mostly when it's absolutely necessary (to avoid bad RNG near the end of a run, for example). So if you love these qualities as much as I do, then it's pretty much guaranteed that you'll have a lot of fun watching this run! 😊 .

This is my first No Damage Run of 2h+ length. So it would feel kind of strange for me to simply let it go without saying anything about it, haha. It felt really intense, towards the end I felt really nervous and it was really hard to control nerves and keep focus, thankfully everything went alright, though! And of course I'd totally understand if it would be hard to believe. To be honest, I am not trying to convince anyone here that this is real, when I show the number of rerecordings, I do it more for trying to remind myself that I really did it without using any savestates at all. But still, knowing that something is real, or at least, wanting to feel that is real, is totally understandable and I am like that, so if you are too, please feel free to ask me ANY questions about my strats. I won't get offended if you question the veracity of this run, like I said, it's totally understandable.
