A poem by poet and translator Dmitry Kedrin (1907 - 1945). Poignant lines, full of drama. Like the author's fate... Dmitry Borisovich Kedrin was an outstanding Russian-Soviet poet, playwright, translator, editor, and journalist.
Writing in a range from epigrams to historical poems, his poems are characterized by a combination of lyricism, epicism, the use of monologue and dialogue, role-playing lyricism, and folklore and song.
Kedrin also translated poetry from Ukrainian, Belarusian, Lithuanian, Georgian, and Serbo-Croatian.
His own poems have been translated into Ukrainian.
