Spend over two hours with Jerry Magni as he documents his entire workflow, from initial concepts and reference images to a fully-rendered sleeve design displayed on a 3D model.
Based in Italy, Jerry Magni designs complex, large-scale bio-mechanical tattoos. He has used digital design tools for more than 20 years, particularly Photoshop. As he develops the tattoo design over 30 hours of work, he shares extremely helpful tricks and shortcuts to make otherwise-complicated tasks much more approachable.
Using the 3D models by BEZ available from Tattoo Smart, Jerry transitions seamlessly back and forth between the 2D drawing and 3D model, drafting the initial layout and checking the placement and flow of the design. As he develops the value study and color rendering, he shows how useful his Photoshop process is for ensuring the composition will translate from screen to skin as successfully as possible. Throughout the tutorial, he explains how he considers ongoing design development, color choices, and how much detail to add to the design.
