Russian Calendar June the 15th: Russian Symbolist Poet Balmont
"Let's be like the sun!" wrote Konstantin Balmont, a prominent Russian Symbolist poet, and indeed he was. He reigned in Russian poetry in late 19th - early 20th century, but after the October revolution he left the country and was almost completely forgotten for decades. Yet he was rediscovered after Perestroika, and is well known for the magical sound of his poetry, his enormous linguistic and cultural knowledge, and his rockstar lifestyle.
