When changing your manual transmission fluid, always crack open the fill bolt first. You do not want to end up in a situation where you drain your fluid and are unable to open your fill bolt.

You should do this on any transmission bolt, open the fill bolt first.
The fill bolt on this model is 17mm, and uses a 20mm crush washer.
