Calculated sample or how to calculate the loop sample
Swatches are everything.
I can't stop repeating this.
First, we knit a control swatch on the machine, varying the gauge at every point, separating our samples with scrap yarn.
We wash, dry, and decide on the gauge we'll be knitting at.
After this, we move on to knitting the calculated swatch.
Important! If knitting involves multiple stitches, knit swatches for each of them!
We begin and end the machine swatch with scrap yarn.
Cast on at least 70 needles (range 35-0-35) and knit 20 rows.
Next, place markers (contrasting threads) on the 31st needle to the left and right of 0.
Knit 60 rows.
Place markers again on the 31st needles to the left and right of 0.
Knit 20 rows.
We remove the sample onto scrap yarn.
We now have a knitted sample of 70 needles and 100 rows, with a marked range of 60 stitches and 60 rows.
Let it rest (highly recommended), wash, and perform a tumble dry.
Next, we take measurements and calculate the stitch count.
