There are many challenges to Bird and Wildlife photography. This week, I used one of the best and easiest methods I know to photograph the many species of birds in my area. It's simple, set up a blind in your yard and wait!
Over the years, I've really tried to make my yard a safe and protected place for the local wildlife. A place they can find food, water and shelter. As such, the local wildlife have become quite comfortable in my yard. So the question then becomes, how do I photograph them without disturbing them or making them feel uncomfortable? Again, a simple answer, set up a blind and wait.
I spent three days this week in my blind photographing a large variety of yard birds and it was just fantastic! Many of these species are birds that I haven't really photographed before, so it was quite nice to broaden my portfolio, and to be able to do so in quite the variety of weather conditions.

I've come to love bird photography over the last couple of years, but I'm still relatively new to it, especially smaller songbird species. Please let me know your favorite method to photograph these stunning little birds in the comments, I always look forward to learning from you!
As always, I strive to be as respectful to the animals I photograph and observe as I possibly can. As a professional wildlife photographer, it's my responsibility to respect the beautiful animals I photograph, I encourage you to do the same.
