Shutterstock Selling AI-Created Artwork from OpenAI | Fund Contributors
Shutterstock partners with OpenAI and LG AI Reasearch to provide AI services using the DALL-E API and EXAONE. Once the service is available, Shutterstock says it will allow customers to produce images on request for text. Responding to ethical criticism that applies to AI-generated artwork, Shutterstock also said it would compensate Contributors or Artists whose work has contributed to developing AI models through the Contributor Fund.
Chances are, contributors will get less from these AI licensing fees, than if customers paid for the original graphics that DALL-E used to create their mix. Because these funds are collective and profit-sharing. I even looked at the Shutterstock contributor group and it turned out that some of them got below the standard 10 cents, even worse, my friend only got 0 cents.
