Behavior of an Overdamped System
Overdamped control systems aren't necessarily bad but they're not ideal either. While you don't get any of the overreaction / oscillation of an underdamped or undamped system, an overdamped system isn't as responsive as you'd like it to be either. Without some math to compare, it can sometimes be difficult to tell the difference between a critically damped system and an overdamped system, though.
