How To Fix Obs High Cpu Usage
High CPU usage in OBS often stems from software encoding (x264) or overly demanding video settings. The most effective fix is to leverage your GPU's dedicated hardware encoder, such as NVIDIA NVENC, AMD AMF, or Intel Quick Sync (QSV), found under Output -- Encoder settings. This offloads the encoding task from your CPU. Next, optimize your video settings: reduce your Base (Canvas) and Output (Scaled) Resolution, for instance, from 1080p to 720p, and lower your Frame Rate (FPS) from 60 to 30. If still using x264, change the CPU Usage Preset to a faster option like 'veryfast' or 'superfast' to decrease CPU load, though this might slightly impact quality. Also, reduce your Bitrate if it's excessively high. Ensure all other unnecessary applications are closed, update your graphics drivers, and run OBS as an administrator for optimal resource allocation. Review your OBS scenes and sources for any complex filters or overlays that might be inadvertently consuming extra processing power.
