The A-frame was introduced in 1939 at the same time as the combat Y-straps and was used to carry a soldiers combat kit such as the shelter quarter, mess tin and assault pack.
The two D rings to the top secure the frame to the Y-straps and the bottom D rings attach to the two spare support straps on the front of the Y-straps, securing the A-frame against excessive movement.
For Lio, the assistant of the MG42 gunner, he used A-frame to carry the MG42 ammo box and mess tin and connect with the belt and Y-strap. In this video, we will check how the A frame set up and connect with the straps. Let’s check it out.
