Tour or independent travel? - This is practically a philosophical question these days. There's a Sky Up flight from Kyiv to Tivat. You can find roundtrip tickets for two for €300 if you book well in advance and are lucky, and only carry-on baggage is included. You also need to choose accommodation—a hotel or villa apartment. The second option is to do as we did: buy a Join Up tour through the "Poehali S Nami" agency two weeks before departure for €640. This includes flights and a hotel for 7 nights.
Which city should we choose? Where to stay?
This question presented a difficult challenge for us, as this was our first time in Montenegro. I was deciding between Kotor and Budva, but in the end, the tour that suited us in terms of dates, price, and villa option was in Budva, so we spent a week there.
Kotor
The city is surrounded by a traditional fortified wall. It was built to protect against enemies. You can enter the city through one of three gates. The main entrance is through the Sea Gate. The passage walls retain 15th-century bas-reliefs depicting the Madonna and Child, Saint Tryphon, and Saint Bernard. The river gate was built to commemorate the city's victory over the fleet of the Turkish admiral Barbarossa.
