I recover files from a failing/corrupted hard drive.
What you will need:
1) An extra laptop/desktop computer with a) Windows installed on a separate (boot) drive b) ability to install a second hard drive in your device c) an external hard drive, USB, etc, to backup files to.
The laptop used in this video is a Lenovo ThinkPad T530. It has an mSATA SSD installed as the Windows boot drive. Using an mSATA SSD leaves the hard drive bay open for a storage drive, which is what I used to detect the failing HDD in order to begin backing up files.
Please note that this is one method that often works well for me. I have the benefit of having multiple devices available to me and, as such, it is easy for me to experiment with different troubleshooting ideas. If there is something I am not explaining well, or if you have something to share, please leave it in a comment below :)
