High waters continue to advance on Kazakhstan. We are anxiously monitoring the events unfolding in the flooded regions of the country, and our anxiety is only growing. However, so is the tension among local residents. Not only did many of them have to cope with the elements on their own, but after the major floods, humanitarian aid is in disarray in some regions. Moreover, local authorities are trying to claim credit for its distribution and volunteer work. Compensation for flooded homes and lost livestock is practically a struggle.
