This biography of Magda Goebbels is the grim story of how a girl raised by a Jewish stepfather, who fell in love with a Zionist in her youth, abandoned her millionaire husband, charmed Joseph Goebbels, and became the uncrowned First Lady of the Third Reich under the bachelor Hitler.
She bore Goebbels six children—all with names beginning with the letter H, in honor of the Führer. And on May 1, 1945, in a bunker beneath the Reich Chancellery, when Soviet troops were five blocks away, Magda gave them morphine, and an SS doctor crushed an ampoule of cyanide in each one's mouth. The eldest was 12 years old, the youngest was four.
