Just finished this contraption earlier and wanted to share: a fire trap designated just to farm azure feathers. You stand in the middle with Wicker, turn on the fire trap by lighting a fire, and read Wicker's "Birds of the World" to summon birds. Each book nets you about 40-50 feathers. I used five here and ended up with about 250 azure feathers. Combined with my reed trap this will make it extremely easy to use blow darts as my primay weapon for the rest of the world.
This was my second run; my first had 4 less flingomatics and the fire took about a day and half to turn off. I decided to add more flingomatics which made the design perfect! I wouldn't bother with something like this for other feathers since a lureplants can be used to farm jet and crimson feathers. The final design took 16 flingomatics, which breaks down to 32 gears, 240 ice, 64 gold, and 96 stone. This doesn't include the material for the grass walls and lightning rods either.
I'm using the starcaller staff to keep the fire going, even with all flingomatics turned on. I've also been using the SCS for my pig/bunny fire farm just because it's easier to turn your flingomatics on, spawn a star, and sit back relaxing instead of lighting fires over and over (star sets things on fire and can't be put out by the flingomatic). I know a lot of people rate the staff has medicore, but I find it extremely gratifying using it for my fire farming, even though this perk is very niche.
Credit to Ackzay for the concept of fire farms. Also props to KCDA for beating me to the punch (http://imgur.com/Wp2vQ9C). I do think my design is a little better, since I don't have to clean the farm between each book usage and my farm was able to be put out as soon as my star despawned. His setup is definitely a little more charming though.
