Inside The Killing Fields: Pol Pot's Brutal Reign
In this documentary we reveal how Cambodia came to also be known as the Killing Fields during the Khmer Rouge rule. Presenter David Adams travels across Cambodia, visiting Pol Pot’s headquarters where he died and meets with soldiers who served during his reign. Pol Pot is estimated to have killed one and a half million people in extermination camps, with as many as six million land mines still blanketing the country and injuring locals.
We also meet Professor Fletcher at Angkor Wat who produces a radar map, revealing the great city it once was, showing a vast network of ruined roads, suburbs and canals now lost to the surrounding land. Some locals are still in search of the snake-eating, two-horned unicorn known as the kting voar, setting up cameras in hope of capturing footage of the elusive animal.
