Inspired by builders kind to share on Youtube i made a test realizing an air hammer with a hydraulic cylinder running on air. It turned out working quite well and it was an easy build.
It is controlled by an Arduino board, pneumatic valves and inductive sensors. Cheap stuff bought from Wish.com; total cost for controller, valves and sensors is less than 35EUR (links below). It seems like a success, but i have never used power hammers so I dont really know :) It runs smooth and "silent". The force is controlled with high precision.
A heavier hammer should not be a problem as the lifting Power of this size of cylinder at 8 bar is estimated to at least 180kg.
I have put around 30 hours into this build.
