I made this video to address a potentially very dangerous problem that anyone with electric trailer brakes run in the axles will encounter at some point.
If you have been following our adventures this video is not in chronological order. I put this together a year ago and just came across the video and wanted to share it.
The problem is that many of the trailer manufacturers run the electric trailer brake wires inside the axles. This is a terrible practice and even with PVC jacketed and insulated wires they will still wear through and short out over time. As a safe preventative measure to prevent loosing your brakes unexpectedly I highly recommend removing the wires from inside the axles and putting them on the outside with zip ties. You cannot check for wear without removing the wires.
