JSON Template (otherwise known as JSON-T for short) is the template language of Squarespace templates and it’s designed to be paired with a JSON dataset.
If you head to any Squarespace website, you can simply add ?format=json-pretty to end of the address and the page will be instantly transformed into a JSON dataset.
Essentially, you’ve got a JSON API sitting on every Squarespace site and what JSON-T does is provide a simple way of grabbing and displaying data from this JSON Data Layer inside various sections of your Squarespace website.
