Session Abstract
With the power of Azure Synapse Analytics we are able to connect to and process data stored in large scale Data Warehousing databases, query data in Azure Storage, Azure Data Lake Gen1 and 2, and Cosmos DB using Serverless SQL Pools with familiar SQL commands.
How do we report on and visualise this data using Power BI? Are there optimisation techniques we can use?
In this session we'll be covering the following:
1. Evaluating Dedicated SQL Pools and Serverless SQL Pools
2. Querying data in Dedicated SQL Pools
3. Connecting to CSV and Parquet data stored in Azure Data Lake Gen 2 using Serverless SQL Pools
4. Using Power BI to connect to Synapse Analytics to visualise this data. 5. Optimisation techniques to improve performance and reduce cost
Biography
Andy is an Azure Data Platform professional working predominantly with Azure Synapse Analytics (SQL Pools), Data Factory, SQL Server and Power BI. He holds an MSc in Business Intelligence and Data Mining. He is also a current Microsoft Data Platform MVP.
