In this video, JJ Belcher describes resource guarding and how he suggests you should handle it. This is a very common behavior, especially with rescue and adopted dogs. When dealing with a dog that is resource guarding it is important not to tackle the issue by exerting dominance over the dog. Typically, resource guarding is based on insecurity and should be combated with trust building.
