Student Killed in Street Fight
PALEMBANG, KOMPAS.TV - A student in Palembang died after being involved in a brawl. Two groups of students in Palembang attacked each other after challenging each other on social media.
Fiki, a high school student at a private school in Palembang, was found dead on Jalan KH Azhari, 14 Ulu, Seberang Ulu II, Palembang, early Thursday morning (June 1).
The victim died from a sharp weapon after being involved in a brawl with another group.
The brawl was recorded by residents and went viral on social media in Palembang.
Police conducted a temporary crime scene investigation at the scene and interviewed several witnesses.
Police then arrested 12 of the 15 teenagers who attacked the victim. Police confiscated several sharp weapons. The arrested perpetrators were still high school students.
Of the 12 attackers, three were named suspects.
The perpetrators who participated in the brawl will receive counseling. Police revealed the motive for the brawl was suspected to be mutual taunts on social media.
