Mongooses Clean HUGE Ticks Off Warthog!
A warthog may look tough enough to survive thorns, heat, predators, and dust — but even one of Africa’s toughest animals has places it cannot reach.
Ticks.
In this wildlife documentary, a heavily irritated African warthog rolls in dry sand, rubs against the ground, flicks its ears, and tries to escape the real hard ticks buried deep inside its skin folds. These ticks cling to the warthog’s skin, especially inside the ears, around the nose, under the belly, along the neck, and between rough folds of skin.
Then the banded mongooses arrive.
For the mongooses, the warthog becomes a living feeding ground.
For the warthog, the mongooses may bring relief.
At first, it looks like a perfect deal: the warthog gets cleaned, and the mongooses get fed. But nature is rarely that simple. Mongooses are not tiny doctors. They are wild animals trying to survive, and every tick they remove is simply another meal.
