In July 1807, Napoleon Bonaparte organized a rabbit hunt to celebrate the signing of the Treaty of Tilsit in France. His chief of staff, Alexandre Berthier, arranged the event and gathered a large number of rabbits. However, when the rabbits were released, they did not run away in fear. Instead, they charged towards Napoleon and his men. The horde of rabbits overwhelmed the hunters, causing chaos and forcing Napoleon to retreat to his carriage.
