Rocket Mass Heater ( clean out )
I've been asked how I clean out my heater. This video shows you the "hi-tech" method I have for cleaning it out first thing in the morning, after it's had a chance to cool down. In a 16 hour day, we produce about 16 oz of fine grey ash. When we split wood, we cut 7" pieces as shown in the video and with those split pieces fill a 5 gallon pail ... and we fill that pail 5 times a day, so that will give you a rough idea of how much wood we burn each day.
