This particular track featured in two films directed by Claude Pierson, 'Justine de Sade' (1972) and 'Joyeux Compères' (1973).
Like the rest of these scores, I suspect this music was taken and arranged from historical sources, rather than composed especially. For example, 'Justine de Sade' also includes an instrumental arrangement of 'La Rose d'Amour' (an 18th century ballade by Ferdinando Paer).
Both scores were recorded by Le Groupe des Instruments Anciens de Paris, under the direction of Françoise Cotte & Roger Cotte.
Over the years this group's work has also been released commercially by Arion, Columbia, Les Discophiles Français, Disques A Charlin, Musical Heritage Society and Pathé, but so far, I have not been able to find any material from the above films scores.
Can anybody point me in the right direction?
Roger Cotte also directed the music score for Walerian Borowczyk's 'Blanche' in 1972 (released on vinyl that same year by Saravah).
