Where can film underfloor heating be used?
Today we'll discuss the conditions under which Alfafilm film-based underfloor heating can be installed. When and where it's practical and cost-effective. We'll also discuss where and under what circumstances it's absolutely not recommended. Alfafilm film-based underfloor heating is versatile. It's installed not only on floors and ceilings, but also under windowsills, under bathroom mirrors to prevent fogging, some use it for drying fruit for compote and fruit chips, while others make mats for dogs, cats, and turtles, and even install them under aquariums. And that's far from the full list of how this heat source is used.
The best thing about film-based underfloor heating is that you can install it even after renovations have already been completed. Alfafilm film doesn't require any construction work. Infrared heating can also be installed on wooden floors, for example in a country house, even if there's no concrete base. Cover it with any flooring up to 1 cm thick.
If you puncture the underfloor heating with a sharp object. Only one line stops working, but the section itself will continue to work. It's also easy to replace with a new one. And if you're moving, you can take the heated floor with you.
Alfafilm is also suitable for making a balcony or loggia habitable.
It cannot be used in rooms where it could be exposed to water. However, if you want to heat a mirror, this is permitted.
Also, you can't use this type of underfloor heating under tiles, because there will be an air pocket between the film and the floor, which could crack the tile adhesive and damage the film. Plus, the tiles will make an unpleasant noise and start to fall off. Even if you glue the film with adhesive, the adhesive will begin to dry out after a while, and the result will be the same as without adhesive. Alfamat is the most convenient underfloor heating material. It's installed directly into the tile adhesive. Set it and forget about it.
It's not practical to use such a film to heat a garage. We're often asked if it's possible to heat a garage with film. Our answer is no. The film floor's power isn't sufficient to cover heat loss. Unless you live in Sochi, of course.
If your walls are freezing, don't try to solve the problem with infrared film. Try using a thermal imager to detect heat leaks, eliminate them, and install high-quality insulation.
