Springfield Echelon 4.0C Comp vs the Grumpy Gauntlet.
Clean baseline, toss test, and full sand & clay burial… then we see if it can hang with a Glock.
In this video I take the Echelon 4.0C Comp from “this might be my favorite polymer striker‑fired gun” to “why is this magazine quitting its job?”
We run three phases:
– Clean baseline (2 mags)
– Toss test – barrel‑first, repeated throws into sand and clay
– Full sand & clay burial (2 mags)
You’ll see every failure to load, the magazine giving up after burial, the slide failing to lock back, and how the gun behaves once I swap to a fresh mag and keep shooting. Then we stack that performance against my usual Glock baseline so you know exactly where the Echelon stands in the real world – not just on a clean square range.
Nobody sent me this gun, nobody’s paying for kind words. I bought it, I shoot it, and if it fails, it gets called out like a private who showed up late to formation.
If you like honest gun and gear reviews, torture tests, and a grumpy paratrooper burying his own money in the dirt so you don’t have to, you’re in the right place.
