Terrorism as Advertising - Part 1
A 26-minute documentary (written by Ilyas Bogatyrev, directed by Sergei Kholodny). Supported by the Federal Agency for Culture and Cinematography. The film presents one of the essential aspects of modern terrorism: the active use of the media to declare and implement its goals. How can this cynical use be countered without violating journalistic ethics and freedom of speech? This topic is addressed in the film by CSTO Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha, cultural studies expert Leonid Kitaev-Smyk, Haifa University Professor Gabriel Weiman, Israeli and Palestinian journalists, and the author himself, who has interviewed numerous known terrorists.
