Cloud Spanner is Google’s rapidly-growing, planet-scale, highly scalable, multi-region, strongly consistent relational database (schemas, ACID transactions, SQL) that customers leverage to run their mission-critical workloads.
As one of the world’s largest and most sophisticated distributed systems, Cloud Spanner is pushing the boundaries of what is possible in distributed computing. In this talk, we will describe Cloud Spanner’s features, discuss customer use cases, and provide an introduction to Spanner’s architecture, including transaction execution and the role of true time.
