I was all by myself when I came here, however I married, I have a family, and I have a lovely son who is working on something that he loves. That is very important to me.
The greatest accomplishment that I have in America is that I became sophisticated person. Living in the United States, I got a lot of opportunities to learn, for example, to go to a museum. I’m an art lover, so over there I feel at home. I was on the board of director of the Chinese Culture Association of Long Island. I did fundraising so that we have enough funds to give out all different kinds of courses. We taught folk dance, we taught our language in writing and conversation, and I also helped out artists from Taiwan. Back in my hometown, our concept is that we need to make a living. So we work for a living, we work for the name, the fame. It’s like your goal is involved with all your family members, especially your parents. But here, you get the freedom to choose what you want to.
