Goal Seek in Excel works by calculating what value will give you your desired formula result by changing a certain input. For example, if you need to know how many units you need to sell in order to reach your revenue goal.

One of Excel's What-if Analysis tools, Goal Seek lets you set the value you'd like for your formula to result in. Once you do, Goal Seek will calculate for you to let you know what value you need to use.

For example, in a calculation like 15 x ?? = 75, the result of Goal Seek would be 5.

In this Excel tutorial, we'll walk through how to use Goal Seek as well as go over some important points to help you use Goal Seek correctly.
