Samsung’s AI research laboratory in Moscow has successfully used AI technology to bring portraits alive. The system takes in a whole bunch of training examples and can produce a completely fabricated video of that person going through the motions of talking and moving their head. It can even change the viewing angle of the subject and create fairly realistic impersonations of people picking up on their physical traits and idiosyncrasies. It won’t be long until these algorithms can scan your social media profile and create a life-like video of you confessing to a crime that you didn’t commit. It’s of utmost importance that we don’t let these systems get into the wrong hands. But as we already know. That’s impossible.
