Citrix: XenApp6: Adding A Second Citrix Server to the evaluation farm
No Audio. Another proof of familiarity video, which means this is not a tutorial.
In this video I've captured part of the steps taken to add a second XENAPP6 EVA (evaluation vhd) to the XENAPPDEMO farm.
Don't think the order matters too much, but here's how I went about things.
1. Imported the CitrixXA6EVA.vhd into my third xenserver.
2. Using Citrix Roles, left the currently configured xenapp farm.
3. Change server name to ctxs-xa2 using netdom command.
4. Add freshly rebooted server to my Lorem.local 2008 domain.
5. Pointed the RDP Session Host to already installed, ctxs-xa1, server's rdp licensing server - though I don't think it took. that'll be a future issue.
6. Through the citrix roles, clicked "configure" xenapp (or something like that). Chose to join existing domain.
6b. Figured out the servername and db name for the datastore on ctxs-xa1 by pretending to want to import (sorry for the deception, computer. I meant well.) the mf20 database. Servername: ctxs-xa1\citrix_metaframe; db: mf20.
6c. Kept the allow shadowing on server.
6d. use the existing license server on ctxs-xa2.
The Citrix Delivery Services Console on the new citrix server, ctxs-xa2, didn't really comprehend what was going on, but the console on the already existing ctxs-xa1 seemed to welcome the new member. So good enough for now; I do expect issues to crop up on the newly added server as that's just the nature of the beast.
