Yes, I did vacuum the queen. Unfortunately, the rest of the story is not good. After releasing the bees into the new box along with all their comb, I ate my lunch and figured I'd check for the queen right after. Well, in the 45 minutes I was gone, the hive was robbed out, and because there were not many bees to defend the hive it quickly became over run. Upon seeing the disaster on my return, I sealed the hive right away. Two days later when I opened the box, there were still a few bees in it, but the floor of the box was covered with dead bees, hundreds of them and the queen was one of them. There was not anything left in the 5 frames of comb I had framed up, and the few bees that remained were merged vacuumed and merged into a different colony. Not the story I wanted to report, but none the less, the reality of the effects of robbing, and this season the robbing has been very intense. Thanks for watching. God's peace to all.
